Terms of use

Terms of use

This website is published by Adaeze & Co., Legal Practitioners, a firm registered in Nigeria. By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

Purpose of the site

The site describes the firm's practice areas and publishes general notes on the law. It exists to let a prospective client decide whether to make an enquiry. It is not a legal service and does not deliver legal advice.

Accuracy

The firm takes care over what it publishes, but the law changes and the notes on this site may not reflect the position at the time you read them. No warranty is given that any page is current, complete or applicable to your circumstances.

Intellectual property

The text, layout and design of this site belong to the firm. You may read, print and share pages for your own use. You may not republish them commercially without written permission.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Privacy

Privacy notice

This notice explains what the website collects and what happens to it. It covers the website only. Information handling within a solicitor–client relationship is governed by the firm's engagement terms.

What the site collects

  • What you type into an enquiry form: your name, email address, optional telephone number, the type of matter, and the description you write.
  • Nothing else. The site sets no advertising cookies and runs no analytics script.

Where it goes

Form submissions are delivered by a third-party form handler to the firm's enquiries inbox. The handler processes the submission in transit and retains a copy under its own terms. [Client to supply: name of the form handler, and confirmation of its data location.]

How long it is kept

Enquiries that do not become engagements are kept for twelve months and then deleted. Enquiries that become engagements are held on the matter file for the period the firm's engagement terms and its regulatory obligations require. [Client to supply: confirmed retention period.]

Who sees it

The firm's lawyers and its secretarial staff. Nobody outside the firm, except the form handler described above, unless the firm is required by law or by a court order to disclose it.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you may ask what the firm holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted where no legal obligation requires it to be kept. Requests go to the enquiries address on the contact page.

No solicitor–client relationship is created by reading this site, by sending an enquiry through the form, or by any reply to that enquiry. The firm becomes your solicitor only when it has confirmed in writing that it can act in your matter and you have accepted its terms of engagement.

Do not send confidential documents or time-critical instructions through the enquiry form. Telephone the office where a deadline is running.
